Is it possible to do vaulting with a western saddle?

i want to do vaulting on my horse but i want to know if you can do it with a western saddle? i only have a western saddle and a english one without sturrups for some reason. please tell me!|||You'll also need someone to lunge your horse, and make sure your horse won't spook. You could do some vaulting manouvers, but not very many. Your english saddle would probably work better, but you should get a surcingle (its like a plastic sort of saddle) if you are serious about vaulting. You will have to buy one though.|||One of the boys at my stable used to vault in a western saddle, sometimes. Although he usually just rode with a pad.

EDIT

I'd suggest talking to your trainer or some one at your barn since vaulting isn't extremely dangerous, but it can be. You have much more of a chance of falling off.

So remember how I was talking about the boy at my barn who vaulted? Well the horse he was riding bucked while he was vaulting and he fell off, almost cracking his rib. I just hope you have a certified trainer to help you.

The boy who vaulted is now riding western, he says vaulting wasn't worth it.|||Anything is possible but, it would be uncomfortable with any saddle!

You need a good horse that will settle to a very rhythmatic canter and someone to lunge it for you.

You can see what the special surcingle looks like on this video.|||Um, no. You don't vault with ANY saddle. You use a special surcingle. A surcingle is a thing used for lounging, similar to a girth with rings and whatnot on it to attach things to, like side reins. Vaulting surcingles have handles on them. You will also need a good horse for vaulting- They like to use ones with a nice, steady tempo, broad back, and smooth gaits. You need someone to hold the longe line too.

gymanastics will help a lot, but you shouldn't try to vault if you don't have a trainer/some one helping you cause its VERY dangerous.
