I have a TROJAN HORSE - should I just delete the file?

So I've found a Trojan horse from a file i stupidly downloaded, AVG said the usual about it and the virus has been moved to the vault. I know where the file is so should I just delete the file or will that let it out of the vault as AVG wont know where it is.





Ok im sorry I know this is a stupid question!





so what is best to do -


delete the file i know its in?


leave it as AVG has it in the virus vault? (apparently!)

It's not hurting anything in quarantine.|||you should just let it be,if you delete it you might delete a core program to the computer and then the computer will blow up,but its your choice|||Yes, delete the downloaded file, not the folder it resides in. No need ro re-infect yourself. In the future, it's recommended to never play a file while downloading it and always scan it with your AVG before opening it.





You can delete them from the virus vault if you so choose as well. Shouldn't be any problem.





Also, the malware may still be lurking in your system restore volumes so it would be in your best interests to disable system restore, reboot then re-enable system restore when you log back on. What this does is protects you from reloading the malware should you ever need to do a system restore.
