Helppp.... Vaulting on horse .....?

Well i have always wont to vault! and would like to learn now as i have a pony to do it on! but i am finding it really hard as she is very round and is 14.1!! Some one please help me!!! just give me some tips and advice :)

Thankyou :D xx|||Assuming that you mean vaulting to mount - there are two ways, the swing up and the jumping across the horses back.

You will see both in this video and although there is only music you can see how it is done with the swing up.

With the vaulting across the trick is that you do not jump to the back but across the lower neck and withers (you can see this in the video above) get both arms over to the other side and keeping your legs together kick them both - without kicking the horse - and that will push you higher.

It takes some practise and it is a knack to be learnt! I had a tiny, barely 5' girlfriend who could vault onto any horse despite her size - or lack of it.

Another thing is that sometimes it is easier if the horse is moving.|||I would suggest finding a trainer who can teach you properly; it is a veryy dangerous sport if done wrong. Valulting is usually done on drafts, but I think your pony will do just fine in the beginning. She will, however, need to know how to w/t/c on the longe line and be very quiet when she is climbed on. You will need a vaulting syrcingle and someone to stand in the middle of the circle to longe the pony.

As for you, you will need to be well-balanced, flexible and strong. Think ballet on a horse's back. You will need to know where to step/sit or else you may injure your horse. I've heard vaulting is first taught on a metal barrel suspended on bungee cords to simulate the horse's movement. Again, you'll have to find a trainer.|||Vaulting as in.... like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZLTg3TsQ鈥?/a>
